Welcome to Beacon!

Chris Houghton
February 12, 2018

Beacon is a new CRM database for charities, focused on making it simple to do great things with data, without IT.

       What is Beacon?

Databases are flexible enough to work well for any kind of team, like volunteering, fundraising, or campaigning.

Unlike many of the systems that exist today, Beacon talks to all of your other software products (like JustGiving, HMRC, MailChimp), which helps to get rid of all those time consuming tasks like manual data entry and de-duplication - so you can focus on what matters.

We're also aiming to let you do some interesting things with your data:

How are you different to other nonprofit databases?

Beacon is fundamentally different because our platform is designed to make your team's life simpler. We're focused on building a product that actually does work for you, rather than forcing you to spend all of your time moving data around and sending the same email hundreds of times each week.

We're also building our systems from the ground up on 21st century technology that's hosted in the cloud. This means that you can access your database from anywhere, and we can store and process an enormous amount of data in real-time, so your database won't crash every time you run an upload.

This also means that we're cheaper, as we don't have the high costs of large support teams and old infrastructure.

       When can I try it?

You can sign up for the beta today! We're currently in early testing with a handful of charities, but we'll be expanding our trial to new charities in the coming weeks.

       Is it secure?

Very. With data breaches happening all the time, cyber security is just not optional anymore. Visit our security page to learn more.

       What's next?

Over the coming months, we'll be using this blog to introduce you to the team running Beacon, and announcing many of the shiny new features designed to make your life easier.
