Bring your Stripe credit card payments into Beacon

Stripe is quickly becoming one of the most popular payment gateways among charities, providing a simple, no-fuss solution for accepting credit card payments on your website.

Charging just 20p + 1.4% on credit card payments, Stripe is cheaper than third-party fundraising platforms like JustGiving and Virgin Money Giving if you're willing to invest some web developer resource to get things set up.

One of the challenges about accepting donations is that they rarely come all from one place. If you're like most UK charities, you're probably accepting donations via:

  • Direct debits
  • Credit card payments
  • Cash
  • Cheque
  • Bank transfers
  • Fundraising platforms (JustGiving, BT MyDonate, Virgin Money Giving)

With money coming in from so many places, it can be tough to keep track of who's paid you and who hasn't!

At Beacon, we're building the place for you to bring all of the data that matters to you in one simple and secure place - no matter where it originated.

Meet the Stripe app

The Stripe app for Beacon takes away the burden of manual credit card payment imports, automatically saving your Stripe payments into Beacon in real-time, in the correct currency:

The app also watches for changes to payments, so if a payment is refunded, that will be reflected immediately in your Beacon database:

See Stripe customer information

You can also view a person's Stripe customer information directly on their profile in Beacon (assuming they exist in Stripe):

If you need to see more information or send a new invoice, you can click through to reach the Stripe customer's profile from Beacon.

Next steps

Stripe is just the start. We're building integrations to automate payment imports from other gatweays like PayPal, GoCardless, and JustGiving. Stay tuned!
